Built by a Pharmacist, for Pharmacists
Dōsys is a McAllen, Texas–based health technology company on a mission to make precision pharmacokinetic dosing transparent, accessible, and affordable.
Our Story
Dōsys started with a simple frustration: why do the tools pharmacists depend on to dose one of the most nephrotoxic antibiotics in the hospital formulary hide their math?
In 2020, the ASHP, IDSA, and PIDS published updated consensus guidelines mandating AUC-based vancomycin monitoring. The evidence was clear: AUC-guided dosing reduces nephrotoxicity. But most of the tools to comply use proprietary black-box algorithms that pharmacists can't verify, and pricing is set behind closed doors with enterprise sales teams.
For community hospitals — the 5,121 facilities that serve the majority of Americans (AHA Fast Facts 2026) — this created an impossible choice: ignore the guidelines, or stretch a thin pharmacy informatics budget to cover an enterprise license.
“I built Vancomyzer because I believed every pharmacist deserves to see the math behind a dosing recommendation — and every hospital deserves access to guideline-compliant tools, regardless of budget.”
— Mario Cardenas, PharmD, MBA · Founder

Why McAllen, Texas
Dōsys is proudly headquartered in South Texas. It's not where you'd expect a health IT startup — and that's exactly the point.
Bilingual Market Advantage
McAllen sits at the crossroads of English and Spanish. Building here means our product is naturally bilingual-aware — a critical advantage as we expand into Latin America.
Clinical Training Nexus
South Texas is home to the UTRGV School of Medicine and seven ACGME-accredited residency programs across McAllen, Brownsville, and Edinburg — including Internal Medicine at Rio Grande Regional Hospital (HCA), Family Medicine at McAllen Medical Center, and Neurology. UT Austin’s College of Pharmacy also runs a regional internship program in the area, and Texas A&M’s Irma Lerma Rangel College of Pharmacy in Kingsville (~90 miles north) anchors regional PharmD training. Natural partners for clinical validation and pilot deployment.
Gateway to Latin America
McAllen’s position on the U.S.–Mexico border gives Dōsys direct access to Latin American markets, where affordable PK dosing tools are critically needed.
Health Disparities Drive Our Mission
South Texas faces significant health disparities — higher rates of diabetes, kidney disease, and limited access to specialty pharmacy services. Building here keeps our mission grounded.
